New Hadecs3 cameras on M16 J16-19

Hi it seems these are all installed now at just about each junction between 16-19 on the M6. I was just coming from Stoke getting off in Manchester, and went past one doing speedo 77mph. There was no variable speed limit in place and there was no flashing. How likely am I to have been caught? Be careful if you're a regular on this stretch like I am folks!

On the occasion you describe, not at all.
If your target speed is around 77mph then it is highly likely that at some stage you will be caught.

The cars around me in the other lanes were doing similar speeds, i.e. between 75-80 i would say. Do these cameras actually flash if they've snapped you?

I always slow to 70 for hadecs "just in case". Easy to spot thank goodness given the three CCTV camera's on poles just before the camera / gantry.

Use Waze in future - I never drive anywhere that isn't local (my town) without it, saved me on many of occasions.

I do this route almost every day and just stick to lane 1/2 with cruise on 70mph. It's not worth the risk to save a few minutes to get home.

I won't mention the cranks that sit in lane 3.

Yes, they give a nice double flash. At the moment, the "normal" threshold for no reduced limit seems to be 70+10%+2, ie if you are doing an actual 79 you risk getting done. By no means all are active with no reduced limit shown as I've watched people go past me and through the cameras at much higher speeds and not get flashed. So if you aim for an actual 77, a real 79 is not far away and maybe the threshold might be lower than 79!

I used to cruise at a GPS 78 set on cruise control for my long commuting, but that feels just too risky these days, so I'm lower now.

I drive through there at 85-90 regularly when there are no restrictions in place and haven’t had a ticket yet. It’s great, as I just fly past everyone else doing a rigid 65ish.

The lane discipline though is a disgrace. MLMs now just use lane 3 of 4.

Why so confident? I’ve been doing it since they opened the stretch up a month or so back and no issue yet. I also do the same speed through the smart motorway just north of Birmingham, which has been open a lot longer and never had an issue there either.

I don’t believe all the hype around them nicking you at 71mph, or at 79mph following the 10% + 2mph guidance.

J16 -19 M6 isn't Manchester, it's Crewe - Knutsford. And yes, it's a double flash. Very rarely see anyone flashed. Cameras are definitely working going east on the M62 outside Warrington!

M62 between Winwick road and M6? Unfortunately I have to travel up and down this stretch twice a week now and can safely say the camera is very much functional. I was approaching heading westbound on Thursday of last week and saw at least 4 cars get flashed in 20 or seconds that it was visible.

Oh yeah. Driving at that speed is really dheadish. If I’m observing what’s going on, holding a steady speed and observing correct lame discipline what’s the problem?

May be you could just drive in the outside lane at 70 to try and stop me.

My confidence comes from the evidence I see doing loads of motorway miles and seeing the cams flash when no reduced limit is posted. My mate got an 81 last week on the M1. So you may be lucky, but one day that luck will run out.

It’s up to each individual force area to decide whether their cameras are live 24/7 and if so what the threshold is

Whilst the HADEC cameras might not be live in Cheshire when there is no variable limit set there is a very good chance that they are Live in Staffordshire in a different force area on the same road for example

I believe that on the M6 north of the Toll they are live 24/7
