Blue lights at the front illegal?

In no way do i argue that these st things should be used.

The blue sidelights you see boyracers with. Are they still illegal? I know they used to be but i heard the law was changed to make them illegal if they flash only, mainly because every single Scania truck on the motorway was illegal with its giant blue and red lights to the front.

Is this true?

And does it still apply to those horrible Neon strips they have under the sides of the car giving off a green or blue glow or whatever?

I don't think i have ever seen a car on the road with neons illuminating the underneath. I am sure they exist but i have only ever seen it on TV!

Was a thing a few years back for the Max Power inspired show cars so they could light up in sync with the subwoofers when parked in car parks, haven't seen any using them whilst in motion.

There was a trend about a decade ago to get little blue LED's for the nozzles of the windscreen wipers, haven't seen any of those around for a while now either.

Front position lamps (sidelights) must be white or yellow, if they are blue they are illegal.

The lights in lorry cabs are not mandatory or optional lamps as defined in the lighting regs so can be any colour other than red, although many lorries do have red lights in cabs.

If the neon strips don't show a red light to the front or a colour other than red to the rear then they are legal.

The multi-coloured lights inside lorry cabs can be seen to the front of the vehicle, so why are they allowed to include red?
Also, does this type of light not reflect back from the windscreen, affecting the driver's vision?

I saw a ROlls Royce Phantom with blue LEDs underneath at Le Mans a few years ago. Not seen them in the UK but I don’t hand around fast food places late at night.

Pretty much, blue lights can fitted to a vehicle provided they emit a steady light, don't show to the rear and they aren't, or don't resemble, blue warning beacons or special warning lamps.

Saw a BMW X5 with 'pineapple ring' style sidelights in red last night. What sort of moron fits red lights to the front of their car?

Very true. If they manage to wiggle free whilst you’re driving then the distraction can be exceedingly dangerous.

I hadn't seen them for years, until this morning.

Battered Ford Galaxy at a t-junction, the blue leds were so badly fitted I could see them hanging down and lit up at 8am as I approached it from the side. 🤣

Definitely not exaggerating, loads of people had them early 2000 up to 2007 when Corsa Limited editions started to appear and modified cars died off.
