A short story. I was returning from Liverpool on the A55, on Monday, I saw blue lights behind, checked back to 70mph on cruise, police car flew past. A few miles up the road, I passed said police car tailing a black saloon, i cruised past at 70mph. As soon as I passed, the sirens went on and the black saloon was pulled over. A few miles later, I stopped for fuel, and mentioned this to the cashier. Another guy in the shop then said, ‘black Audi’, ‘yes, a dirty black Audi’. ‘He pulled in front of me and slammed his brakes on, so I phoned the police, nice to see it has some results’. Not sure if that was a reaction to his call...but.

Those odds aren't valid for North Wales.
I must have driven the run to Anglesey from Chester dozens of times in a van going to the race circuit and abet bee caught yet. Even the new cameras don’t mind me doing 80ish in what’s a 60 limit for me. Not quite the same as the big odds I’ve quoted before but my experience is 0/150ish so even better odds so far.

it's more frustrating getting caught when the conditions are perfect and the speed is reasonable though.if you're doing 160+ then fair enough, you've been a bad boy
or doing 70 in a 30 and overtaking dangerously, also naughty
in these circumstances most won't complain about getting caught / getting a load of points etc

But my point is that it doesn’t say anywhere in the speed limit rules that it’s all dependant on conditions. I’m just saying that we all know what the limit is and that the limit is just that irrespective of what we’d like it to be. if you're doing 160+ then fair enough, you've been a bad boy

Even if 160 was the cut off someone would be on here complaining that they were only 1mph over at 161. Whatever the cut off is we all drive to it and then chance our arm a little more. Getting 3 points every now or then is just one of those things. I speed pretty much everywhere all the time and if it means I get caught once every few thousand trips then the odds are massively in my favour.

I'd say you've been staggeringly lucky, especially in a van. Cheshire (where I live) Police are very hot on restricted speed vehicles, and the cameras on the A556 (from Northwich to the M6) can tell the difference and they catch a lot of people who think because it's got 4 lanes it's a dual carriageway.
