Can't remember who insures my car!

Somehow i have lost all the info on this. I can see it is insured but how do i find out who insures it??

Not sure they do. I know my mother does, but she's old Normal people might have an email on their phone. Having done exactly the same myself, it's trawling back through emails or bank statements time.

You can submit a Subject Access Request to MID - they specifically recommend it for this situation:

"Requesting your insurance history"

Easiest way is to use askmid mobile app. Check a third party as if you've been involved in and accident and type in your own registration details. They'll provide the insurer name.

Just what is wrong with having a very important contact number to hand? OK,not IN the car, on your phone,in your wallet,somewhere handy so you can phone them if you have just had an accident. A lot of insurers give you a little sticker or a key fob thingy.

Pretty much everyone I know has their insurer's emergency number in their phone contacts. Seems pointless having it at home if you need it out on the road. Many companies give their company car drivers a card with emergency contact details - including their insurer in case they need to provide details after an accident.

There is nothing wrong with it but a lot people have this sort of information stashed away in an email somewhere they can retrieve if necessary. Having to report a crash is hardly an emergency situation.

I suspect this is one of those generational things...

You do know that when you stop after
an accident you have to show your insurance details to anyone who reasonably requests it. If you don't it's a personal report of the accident at a police station.. So if you have an accident it can be a time saver

My insurance docs are on Dropbox, so I can retrieve them by the road side if I need to.

I print my certificate of Insurance and stuff it in the glovebox. I'd have thought that's the least amount of effort that covers your back in case of doubt.

You can search emails by typing in the search box on Hotmail, for example.

Just search a few companies you think it might be, or type car insurance, something like that.
