Mopeds on the pavement

Sanity check required - Am I being too sensitive or is this a genuine issue?

Road near me has temporary 4 way traffic lights for gas works. Moped riders have decided it's a good idea to use a the park as a cut through so they drive into the car park on one side, bump the kerb, drive through the park on the pavement, then exit through the car park on the other side therefore cutting out the wait at the 4 way lights. Genius but dangerous as it's next to a kiddies playground.

There's no CCTV apart from mine. It happens all day with Uber, Deliveroo & JustEat drivers going back and forth.

Worth reporting? Petty? Will anything be done?

Here's my rough map!
Black = main roads
Green = park
Red Dots = traffic lights
Blue line = moped path
Grey = car park layout

Definitely report it. And keep reporting it. If it's going past a playground then it won't be long before an absent minded child wanders into the path of a scooter and gets covered in scalding Korma. If the council wanted there to be a bypass to these lights, they'd build one.

I can't actually see the diagram mind you (work computer) but I'd report it personally.

Report it and you will probably have to report it a few times. Or do what they do to car drivers and film them doing it and report to police.

Report that they are doing 31MPH through the park, the "safety parknership" will be round there in a flash!!

Regular problem around my area too - I'm a motorbike/pushbike commuter into London and the L-plated delivery riders are a law unto themselves!

Pavements, red lights, forcing oncoming cars out the way is all in an evenings work!

If there was one law I could bring in tomorrow it would be to forbid the use of L-plates for commercial purposes....

Report to your Parish Council and local allocated Police Officer. Request it as an agenda item on next Council Meeting. When I was a Parish Councillor this is the thing councils should act on. Our local Police Officer, and County Councillor would attend - these can ad weight to these. Maybe the cycle-limiting bars can help. See site and document attached.

You don't need to bring in a law - there's not a chance that a driver on L plates has hire & reward insurance. In fact, it'll be unusual to find any delivery drivers with it.

You don't need to bring in a law - there's not a chance that a driver on L plates has hire & reward insurance. In fact, it'll be unusual to find any delivery drivers with it.

Then I don;t know why the police don't just set up a number of roadblocks and impound them en-masse....they'd make a killing in London, especially as they can bill £150 odd per recovery and fit about 20 scooters on a flatbed....

Here's one from today. This guy has been past twice so far.

Not the best photo - I'm using a 400mm lens to get these as the path is 50m from the house but you can clearly see the kiddies playpark and the orange gate.

The bit of tarmac on the right hand sides now a pedestrian area. The path he is on goes from one car park on one side of the park, past the entrance to the playground and then out to the car park on the other side.

I've reported it via 101 and have been given an email address to send photos/footage too. The camera is 50m from the path so it doesn't show number plates, same with eyeballing it, it's so far away and the plates are just a bit too small to make out properly. I got the big camera out for the reach so I can see number plates. Not sure they'll be bothered to do anything.

I suppose it might be worth emailing my local MP. But then is it worth it? 4 weeks of temporary traffic lights left.

Better to eliminate the problem by not riding a moped in a play area at all.

I think he's saying that unless he uses an SLR (as he did for that pic) then no reg gets captured.

You can see the reg in the photo because it was taken on a dslr with a 400mm telephoto lens!

You can’t make it out in person or on CCTV unfortunately. Hence not having legible CCTV of peds with plates.

If the ecilop won't do anything about the problem... Boiler suit, balaclava and bat. Use a few of their brainless heads as target practice, word will soon get around as well as the pavement being blocked with bits of ped and deliveroo wkers..

Why don't you just suggest that the OP strings some fishing line or wire across the path at neck height? D!ck.
