Just returned from a couple of days break, touring North Yorkshire....

My route took me north from Skipton, through Kettlewell, Leyburn, Richmond, then down through Masham, Ripon and apart from the wonderful scenery I did not see a single fixed speed camera in almost 90 miles...:)

It was like going back in time twenty years....

Truly God's own country.....

Truly god's own driving country. I've seen some fixed cameras on the big A roads, but they're no fun anyway. Besides, the very *best* roads are the ones that you don't need to exceed the speed limit on to have fun - I have a particular fondness for the road from Buttertubs to Richmond

Della Cannings is a modernising Chief Constable. Since her appointment as Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police in October 2002 there has been a marked step change in performance and a major modernisation programme commenced.

Della was born in Exeter, Devon and educated at the Bishop Blackall Grammar School and subsequently graduated from the University of Bath in mathematical studies.

In 1975 she joined the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary as a graduate entrant. She attended the Police Staff College in 1997 on the 17th Special Course as a Sergeant and the Strategic Command Course in 1999 as a Chief Superintendent.

Della has a strong operational base including being a hostage negotiator an a silver firearms commander
CC Cannings, step up and take a bow. When discussing revenue generation at a meeting of her senior BiB, apparently someone suggested GATSOs and was slapped down by the CC. Painful I would imagine

I understood our very own Gemini was there at the time, or at least that was how I read it when he posted about it here. 'Twas very good news anyhow.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

No that's probably West Yorkshire. I still believe North Yorkshire has no fixed speed cameras.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Could be, don't start me off with West Yorkshire
It's only 2 mile from Wighill.
