Driving Peugeot 1007 with doors open

Breeding hot today and the aircon failed on the 1007.
The electric sliding doors do not stick out beyond the mirrors when open
It is bliss driving with both doors open in this weather but is it legal to do so? No passengers.

Probably not strictly illegal, but you'd probably get pulled over and have a hard time convincing a Police officer of that.

Probably technically using a vehicle in a dangerous condition in that in the event of a collision it could result in a more serious injury. (Side impact bars etc) But almost certainly would result in at most getting told to shut the door. /lgrason

Also many vans in the 70's & 80's had sliding doors, which could be open when driving.

Isn't it something to do with the doors securing open so in the event of an accident they don't slide closed and take someone's hand off?

I live by the midlands hub for them and most drive with the door open... not just in the summer either!

If safety was a concern, why do they allow people to ride motorcycles?
No doors, no seat belts, no crash bars and no airbags?

If it is any I've driven quite a few Peugeots with the same style and they automatically close over a certain speed (if yours has that feature).

My Dad used to have a Jeep Wrangler, never got stopped in that for having no doors on!

(must note that you do need to have wing mirrors even with no doors on, not sure if the mirrors are on the door on the Peugeots or not)

Met Police used to have carriers with sliding drivers/passenger doors - regularly driven with doors open in good weather
