Maybe the days of two coppers colluding are coming to an end.

Pretty sad the force didn't make an example of them as its clear emailing a copy of one statement and then the other waiting 6 days smells fishy.


Genuine error that they completely fabricate how the defendant/s were driving to paint to hang careless and inconsiderate and TS10 offence on them!

Sounds like they've done well to come out of a misconduct hearing with management advice on the face of it.

Although if they can't prove there was an element of collusion on the balance of probabilities then it's probably a weak case.

There's nothing wrong with emailing statements to one another. If I were asked to give a statement at a later date there's no way I'm going through time consuming multiple sources to get basic information like time / date / location / who else was there etc.

Agree, surely this is perverting the course of justice... which is dealt with very harshly in other circumstances; often a short custodial sentence.

If it can't even be proven there was 'an element of collision' on the balance of probabilities, I think they may somewhat fall short of proving intent beyond reasonable doubt.

Can't help but think of the MOP making false statements in the news last week who got 18 years? !!

Or the guys who cover their plates up on a speed camera and get £2.3k fines, even though the offence is trivial. But the rules are deffo the same for us all, oh yes, they are, you know.

Yeah the guy convicted of 12 counts of perverting the course of justice whose lies resulted in £ multi-million inquiry involved lots of resources.

I'm pretty sure if whoever investigated it had sufficient evidence to support a criminal matter they'd have pursued it.

Although that reality is no match for lazy sarcastic cynicism, I guess.

As others have said the 2 policemen got off pretty lightly. Perverting the course of justice usually results in a jail term. That could have happened.
