I would dispute it. Btw, I don’t think it’s relevant that the signs are covered by trees - parking signs are not designed to be read whilst driving past anyway, but on foot.

The issue is that there aren’t any signs on the road in question. Surely you cannot be expected to know to walk that far (or in that direction) to find one? I believe there should be regular signs on the named road you are parked on. If there aren’t, I doubt they could enforce.
