I need advice.

I was stopped by Thames Valley Police for doing 95mph at the M40 sometime last week. I was given the usual lecture and was handed a fixed penalty notice - 3 points and £60 fine. Had to go to the police station to hand over my licence and insurance papers. When going through the details, I noticed that the policeman who stopped me failed to sign his name, rank and details - an oversight at his part.

I challenged the validity of the fixed penalty notice as the officer who stopped me failed to sign it but the local police said it it still valid.

Is it??

Let me know.

Where abouts were you nabbed on the M40? I travel down there a fair bit and have previously enjoyed swift unimpeded progress but am getting increasingly nervous about my license!

I was stopped by TV in Kidlington. 43 in a 30.
Copped the ticket, went to the station with the paperwork.
As I was signing the cheque I notice he hadn't put the reg details in the box.
I filled in all paperwork, and sent it with the cheque to the relevent place, but with a note stating the fault.
I received everything back, inc the cheque with a letter saying...
Clerk to the Justices said:
The above endorsable fixed penalty notice has been canceled by the manager of the thames valley fixed penalty support unit and no further action will be taken in regard to the alleged offence.
Due to the cancellation of the fixed penalty, your documents listed are hereby returned to you.
Thank you for your concern in this matter.

I have exactly the same issue as well. Stopped on the A3 on Saturday for doing 95.5 and the paperwork hasn't been signed either...I have till tomorrow to produce my insurance details and paperwork to them..

Any suggestions would be cool.

Consider yourself fortunate. If you had strayed over 96 then you would've had the hassle of a court appearance and a total penalty certainly exceeding the £60 and 3 points you are about to stump up for.

I got caught at 91mph on an empty M4 but because I'm driving on a foreign license I had to go through the courts. Result? £200, £35 costs and 4 points.

Ouch doesn't half describe it.
