How Quick do DVLA issue fines?

Due to serious ineptness on my part my Car Tax expires today (Saturday). However my MOT retest (new CAT needed) is booked for Monday, this was the earliest it could be. Theoretically I should declare SORN today and then re-tax on Monday. I pay by DD which is taken 1st of the month. Would their system churn out an automatic fine for one day?

Anyone with greater knowledge of the workings of DVLA advise please.

You'll be fine. Just don't drive it until going to test centre Monday.

As above, I forgot to do 1 of my bikes, 3 weeks late and heard nothing, if it’s in the same month don’t think their bothered, they still get all the money for that month
