FPN payment query

I got a FPN for my mis-spaced number plate, see thread elsewhere in this section. Despite my obvious blatant disregard for the law and sociopathic tendencies, I've never had a FPN before and I'm a little confused about the payment procedure.

I paid online the day I received the FPN. The notice itself says I *must* record the date of payment and the transaction reference on the FPN itself. It isn't clear if I'm expected to return the filled - in FPN, or just keep the information for my records?

Can anyone advise? Do I need to return the completed FPN notice?

It's going to depend on which force. Is there a phone number on the paperwork that came through? Or have a look on their website.

You can pay via GOV.UK, and they should be able to pick up the fact it's paid, if they see the FPN and reference number. There's got to be paperwork explaining how to pay?
