Police and similar emergency service types,
Can anyone recommend me new boots? I am fed up of the (free) pair of steel toe Magnums that I am currently wearing. Looking for something fairly cheap maybe magnums however that is light and easy to drive/run about in.
Current ones do not make for precision car control!

I wore Dr Martens for years - nothing more comfortable once theyre broken in. Later wore British army issue high leg boots - dont think you can get 'em anymore though.Can anyone recommend me new boots? Not cheap, but they’re good. They’re issue in my force (I’ve still got a couple of pairs in my locker, which come out on nights - it’s uncomfy traipsing across a muddy field in my The Asda’s winkle pickers with my mysterious blue book). They issue them to a number of U.K. police forces and they supply the UK military as well. They do ones suitable for PSU use (steel toe and shank) and supply some Gucci ones to ARV/Dogs.
I’ve got a pair of Alt Berg motorcycle boots. They were the only bit of kit that survived my accident, albeit they got a bit scuffed. Actually, that’s a lie. The sock on my left foot also survived being cut off me (it somehow ended up staying on my foot for about three days in the Major Trauma Unit).

I used the kevlar toed airport versions for 8 years thought they were wonderful much more comfortable as no ridge inside. Needed a new pair every year though as soles wore through was my only issue but they did get hard use every day on hard surfaces like tarmac and concrete so maybe they could last longer in mud or on tiled flooring?
I get on with Steitz Secura, had mine issued to me as part of trial.
Steitz Secura GORE-TEX OSLO Midsole Safety Boots I have the shorter version but the do a higher model.
I know Highways England favour these for traffic officers.
They are very breathable, very comfortable come is a range of width fittings and have a heel load damping pad set to your body weight.

Another vote here for Altbergs. If you're within 100 miles of the factory its worth the (nice) drive to the place & get measured up by the pro's. The staff make those plebs in your high street shops look like proper belmers. I have very very wide feet so have to have mine tailor made. Even then they only cost £120 for a set of peacekeepers or similar. I've got 3 or 4 pairs of assault boot types & worn them in pretty much every theatre, middle eastern desert, sub-saharan africa, south wales (!!). Can't go wrong with em.
