What is the law re: rear facing bench seats??

Very strange.

What I am after is;

If I buy an aftermarket bench seat and strap it into the boot area on my Rangie using proper seat belt mountings etc am I breaking the law by letting thestag sproggs ride there.

I heard that if the car is regestered for 5 seats no more can be added. Is this just bar room bollards?

I'd thought about fitting 2/3's of a metro rear seat into an Omega estate with a little agricultural engineering I'm sure it would be stronger than needed. 2 off 3 point clubman harness would be good. Not got round to buying the omega and I most likely won't

Just let your insurance company know.
