Lease Car Stolen - Today

Just wondering if anyone can help/advise.
Unfortunately two scrotes broken into my house in the early hours of this morning and made off in my Leon Curpa (had it 3 months). The police have found it but I'm now going to need to get the locks on the car changed as the thieves have the key still. Now i'm unsure as to whether to go through my insurance (only got two years no claims) or get it done at my own cost. I've not yet seen the condition of the car, but the police have said it looks fine.

Did the insurance company know of the theft prior to police finding it by you reporting the theft to them?Unfortunately two scrotes broken into my house in the early hours of this morning and made off in my Leon Curpa (had it 3 months). Surely lock change plus recovery costs will be more than excess and potential impact on future premiums given that the vehicle has been recovered and will not be costing insurance company too much in comparison to full payout
ps hopefully you were blissfully unaware of what happened as plastic and metal can be replaced easier than bones and skin

Yes the insurance company were called and alerted of the theft and once it was found they were updated again. My excess is quite high, i'm sure its £800+. I opened thread being 95% certain the vehicle would be a Cupra/S3 or Golf R. I am glad mine is going back in 3 months and being replaced by a shed which i dont care aboutpavarotti1980 said:

Mate I'm absolutely gutted. It's a shame you can't have nothing nice. I'm thankful it's been found, but now pretty gutted i've got to fork out loads of money to rectify it.P4D said:

My insurance have told me if its in a condition i'm ok with, they'll leave the claim and my policy will continue as normal. You might be able to persuade the insurance company not to process the claim? I did this a very long time ago.

If the police don't keep the car in storage too long, I imagine it's only a couple of hundred quid tops to get your car back to you - so probably still cheaper to handle it yourself.I think I've just seen your post on Facebook too on the Manchester stolen cars group - scrotes look the ones that took ours.

I'm more concerned about the changing of the locks. I imagine that is an expensive job. Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if it's the same people. No mate. They snapped the barrel off the door downstairs and found the keys in the kitchen.
I've just changed all our locks for 3 Star Platinum anti snap, anti drill locks for this reason. Just over £100 for three locks.Sorry this happened to you. it's a sad state of affairs that requires us to turn our homes into Fort Knox.

They took my 8 week old 530e and a 10 month old Abarth 595. BMW found in Bury in a chop shop after a week, in pieces, and the Abarth was found in midlands being used by some drug dealers. Scum.Pegscratch said:

Great idea. Given them a reason to come back in and drag you out to your car.and 2 as much as I despise them, some thieves aren't stupid enough to go back into a house where the owner might be awake at this point, called the police and potentially prepared themselves for a confrontation which would result in them either being wanted for an armed robbery/assault charge which the Police (I imagine) would look into with a lot more enthusiasm or get the S**t beat out of them and then arrested anyway and most likely get linked back to several other car robberies and get a hefty sentence
just my opinion but I think once they've got the keys and still can't get the car working it's not worth it to them to try and pursue it further
my mate has a ghost fitted to his RS4, Thieves got in his house, got they keys, couldn't get the car started, left the keys on the seat and did a runner
