Help with weight limit regarding licence held

Guys hoping someone can answer and hopefully a traffic officer confirm.
Situation is I want to buy an RV, its plated at 9000kg I have on my licence (regarding towing)
BE
C1E with restriction code 107
D1E
Now if you read D1 and D1E they dont specify a weight just a max amount of seats (16) and total weight with trailer of 12000kg
So my question, if I take my LGV test C (32ton rigid) what trailer can I tow behind my RV that probably weighs 8000kg?
What licence do I need to be 100% legal to tow a 3000kg trailer (race shuttle and car) behind my RV because when you read your licence even with grandfather rights it stipulates 750kg trailer but does not account as to it being braked or unbraked.

I'm far from an expert, so happy to be corrected...
But I'd say you'll need C+E to do what you want.
Or C1+E if you can get the RV less than 7½ tonne.
Or use your D1E and find a short, sub 16 seat bus to tow with??

You can tow a trailer under 750kg kg behind the RV once you have a C licence, don't let anyone tell you that a PSV licence (D or D1) will allow you to drive an RV, dealers are known to do this, but it's your licence not their's that you risk getting prosecuted on.
It does seem ridiculous & in reality it is, but unless you fancy being the test case in front of a judge, stick with it.

It's a pisser, isnt it? Particularly when the train weight used to be significantly higher when you were driving a 7.5t van using a car entitlement. There appears to have been a trade off, where car drivers retain a grandfathered entitlement to C1, but the train weight is limited to 8.25t.Look on the plus side, you're saving over £1k Vs someone born in 1980 or later by simple virtue of having C1 entitlement through grandfather rights...
Those of us who passed in 1997-onwards need to pass a separate test just to get that entitlement, last time I checked it was over £1k to do a lessons+test package for C1.

The thing that REALLY take the piss (IMO) is that I have done B, B+E and C, and I can’t put even a 750kg trailer on a 7.5t truck. Yet if I had passed my test in a Metro in 1983, not driven since and then just decided I wanted to do that, I could.
I don’t really want to put a tiny trailer on a truck, but the principle annoys me
I think you can, but it is limited to 750kg in line with all no +E entitlements.
If you do a +E for your C then it will be permanently added to all lesser groups. Adding +E to your B entitlement won’t let you pull a massive draw bar trailer behind an HGV though, which makes perfect sense.

Looks like im taking a test in an artic then to be legal, now I dont see the logic with the trailer and the 7.5 and 32 ton licence, surely the extra issue with trailer is the length not the weight, now I can put a car trailer on the RV (7.5 ton) and drive merrily around with a 50 ft vehicle legally, now put a smart car on the trailer and im illegal !!! WTF? where is the logic?
You aren’t “licensed for 32 tonnes”: you are entitled to drive any rigid vehicle with a MAM of over 7.5tonnes. There is no size or weight limit.

Theyve given you a 'simple' explanation. What I have said isnt incorrect. The largest rigid that youre likely to encounter currently is 32t, but thats what is allowed on the road and NOT what you are allowed to drive.
Consider too, that I have all of the group entitlements on my licence, that you want. I don't need to ask a training company what they relate to.

Max trailer for C = 750kg plated MAM
9000 GVW + trailer over 750kg needs CE
