Flashed by Hadex3 M42.

As per title. I was flashed at a smidge over 90mph on the southbound carriageway by junction 4 (Shirley).

It was very quiet, with hardly any traffic and no 'management' speed restriction displayed on the gantries. If I've been done, fair enough, and I'll await the letter.

The thing is though, I've never seen those ones go off, and I've had other cars pass me there at higher speeds than I was doing and there was no flash?

Anyone else had a similar experience at that junction?

I only know the M25 ones but you have to assume a Hadecs 3 can be set to enforce any VSL or NSL at a moments notice and probably remotely.

I certainly dont chance the M25 ones at more than 75mph and see them flash people at >80mph when on NSL.

We've seen picture evidence on here of Hadecs3 enforcement when no reduced limit was in force unfortunately.

You'll have to see what comes through the letter box. Good luck though!

I have not read other threads about these cameras, but having read this one I googled the Hadecs3 camera.

Google says they dont flash? Can anyone confirm, as we all know that google is not always right!

They do flash, seen them do so many times on the M3/M40 bit of the M25

They certainly do flash, they’re going off all the time on the Hertfordshire stretch, although I have to say, I have only seen them go off when a variable speed restriction is in place

I saw a flash from one as I passed it, on the M5 jnear Worcester. Thought I may have a ticket coming my way but nothing arrived. It was showing 40mph (the first gantry showing 40mph so everything still slowing down) and I think I was doing less than 45mph. But I didn't see any other vehicle going faster. Apparently they do just go off randomly at times so you might be lucky.

I got flashed at 77 or 78 (sat nav) with no reduced limit shown on the m1 and didn't get a ticket - phew. Made me knock a couple of mph off the cruise control though, so it works!

I got flashed by a hadecs 3 approaching 10pm on a Sunday evening northbound M5 at Bristol, I was doing 82mph and got a ticket, the motorway was pretty empty and no speed was showing on the gantry.

Unbenownst to me, the ones on the M4 at Bristol were switched to be permanently on a couple of years back, even when there were no speed restrictions in place. Flashed before Xmas and nothing came through then flashed again a few weeks later and got a NIP. Now I don't chance it and in any of these sections.

Why would you chance it knowing there’s a camera there? Seems like a massive gamble assuming every ting you pass it that it hasn’t been switched on for NSL at some point prior.

Hardly, depending on traffic conditions of course.

140mph might be a bit of a bell end speed but 90mph is maybe only slightly over sensible for a near empty motorway.

There's a few of these cameras on that stretch of motorway - between 6 and 3a. Supposedly they always enforce 70 (so probably ~80) even when the gantries are off. Then you get a clear run from 3a to the M5 that's camera free - although has the occasional police car parked up just before Jct3. Intrigued to see if you get a ticket through.

I think 86 is the cut off for speed awareness, if offered, if you qualify etc. Indicated 90 maybe close.

Do you drive much on ‘UK Motorways’?

Waze is useful for our modern stty road networks, 90 is still possible in some places with a reasonable degree of avoiding the various scamera vans and revenue cops but you need to pay attention.

On the M6 toll yesterday there were lots of old bill, probably making quota pre Brexit Always a case of keeping your eyes open.
