Living together/lodger agreements etc.

Good afternoon all

I am moving in with my girlfriend at the end of the month and just wanted a bit of advice on a the legal side of things

We have been looking at things like 'living together agreements', 'lodger agreements', and other options out there.

My girlfriend owns her own home and I'm not in the slightest bit interested in owning or claiming any of her flat and am more than happy to pay rent bills etc but not sure how to do it properly. I would however like to get something in writing as I have an IVA and want to make sure all its above board. The easiest solution seems to be a lodger agreement but not sure if we can do this as shes my girlfriend. Living together agreements seem very complicated and long winded and I'd like to avoid one of these is possible.

Any one got any advice ideas? Cheers

No such thing as 'common law' wife etc so unless you contribute towards the mortgage/property you'd have no claim on her house if that's the concern?

I am not the slightest bit interest in any claim (its her flat not mine). I'm happy to cover all parts of my bills and chuck her some money towards the mortgage (rent). My main concern is having something on paper showing what I pay due to my IVA

Just do a standard tenancy agreement, maybe on a rolling 6 month contract.
You can download documents online; make sure you have witness(es) & file somewhere safe....

I think you have missed the IVA bit? It is nothing to do with protecting his (non-existent) assets.

Does an IVA have an administrator who you could ask? How do they work e.g. do you need to regularly submit evidence of expenditure or just believable figures? Would evidence of monthly bank transfers to your girlfriends account be enough evidence?

It does have an administrator as such and I have to submit evidence every year, I have almost a year to go until I have to resubmit. I'd rather not discuss it with yet as its restrictive enough having an IVA. Just trying to make sure I stay the right side of the legalities of it all. My preference is to have a lodger agreement rather that a cohabitation agreement.
