Taken plates off via DVLA, however need to get new ones made

Hi all,

So I'm selling my car tomorrow, I've gotten my plates taken off via DVLA and stupidly didn't look for my original plates beforehand - it seems I've misplaced the standard ones.

The dealership where I'm trading my car in is 3 hours away, will I be okay to do that journey? I was hoping if I get pulled, I could just say I've taken the plates off tonight and don't have new ones for the car and my local dealership wouldn't make them without a log book but the dealership I'm trading the car in to said they'll make them up for me and it's no problem.

Basically, am I okay driving round for one more day on that private plate?

You will be fine driving on the old plates.
Will the garage be okay to take your car without a valid V5C?

They said they're happy for me to send them the log book once it arrives, they'll hold a deposit and will refund it once the V5 has been received.

I've done this once before with £200 deposit.

As above you'll be fine for a day, just make sure insurance is still on the plate which is on the car to avoid triggering anpr

Just find a local motor factor who will make plates without needing the faff of documentation. Although in the motor trade the one local to me doesn't ask. They are about..
