What type of camera is that?

Recently I noticed camera which is not yellow. I was wondering is it speed camera? Not sure if my speed was over the limit.

Left one is CCTV on pan/tilt base, the other is probably a fixed ANPR, as the top looks like an IP camera, the bottom looks like infra-red illumination.

So they are not checking the speed of the vehicles?

ANPR will just be logging your movements and reporting them to the Police, where they will be stored for as long as they fancy - 'just in case' you are a criminal in the future.

It’s covered by the Data Protection Act, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, Human Rights Act and the protection of freedoms act variously but predominantly RIPA depending on how/why

Retention periods will be agreed nationally, iirc it was 12 months but additional
Authority required to search databases over three months old

Any information that becomes evidence in a criminal matter will then be subject to the evidential retention rules depending on the severity/completion of the case

Unless it is a privately operated system on, for example, an industrial estate?
