Roadworks from commercial construction

I’m not over bothered by this but it did get me thinking a bit.

Do commercial buildings ever get blocked planning due to the amount of traffic the roadworks would cause?

At the DHL/Amazon area near Manchester airport there are some more developments underway.

Last week they made roundabout at the entrance to the fuel station a four way controlled temporary traffic light system.

Even at 0730 on a Friday when Coronavirus was keeping everyone off the road, the traffic was still backing up pretty much to the motorway exit.

If the traffic had have been normal that week it would have been ridiculous. It was pretty ridiculous coming the other way at 4pm with queues all the way back to Amazon.

Some answers might make my pointless wait in traffic a bit less annoying.

Usually the planning process on major development requires a transportation assessment.
The construction phase maybe identified in this and the effects it may have.
Enables the planners to understand any issues.

Like most things in life if the benefits outweigh the downsides planning will likely be passed. The short term disruption is usually worth it in the end.

I bet the traffic would flow freely if all the lights were accidentally pushed over by the wind.
