Do the public health restrictions prevent me returning a NIP

At the moment we're being advised what to do. In a few days we may be legally obliged to stay at home for all but none essential things. I certainly wouldn't rush to the post office just yet.

If you are not shopping for food or taking your allowed daily walk then I'd say don't worry about an NIP. Your health is more important than any fines that might follow.

Please don’t waste police resources. You have 28 days to give the information requested. Get a stamp and post it back within 28 days. Buy stamps online if you can’t get to one of numerous shops selling stamps.

I would say no, nothing stopping you going to the Post Office (other shops sell stamps as well) and buying a stamp.

Easily to combine it with your allowable walk, or buying some groceries.

Even if isolating, are you seriously you can't get someone to get you a stamp?

My Daily walk takes me past my newsagents. Today the lass was limiting the people going in, I just gave her the money, stood outside and got the paper handed to me. Somethings are really simple

You are allowed to leave your home for exercise, take a walk past the nearest Post office, or call in on your way to do your essential shopping.

Failing that buy a stamp at the supermarket when you do your essential shopping then post at a convenient post box.

I suspect if it was something you really wanted to post you would be sensible about it and find a way.

Nothing I've heard suggests the lock down's enforceable at the moment. It seems the government hope we'll be sensible for the common good. As far as I know the police have no powers to arrest anybody. Obviously if people can't help themselves then new laws may come into force.

I found this out today. Need to send a birthday card and I can bob it in the nearest post box when I go for a walk if the postage has been sorted, which it can be as I have a printer.
