Would this count as an undeclared modification? If so I think they can reduce the payout by the difference between what you paid and what you would have paid had you declared the modification...

For the most part legal... rofl

You wisely recognise illegal number plates take the mickey so how is a mostly legal one - go on, have another rofl - not doing exactly the same then?

If that undeclared mod had a direct influence on the likelihood of the claim being made yes, otherwise no

It's either legal or illegal (in this case clearly illegal) - whether or how this affects insurance I cannot comment on.

Technically there's no difference though - it's just a fact a number plate is either illegal or it isn't, and facts, not random opinions about any varying degrees of illegality or acceptability are what matter.

There's already a plethora of illegal number plates out there so I'd suspect it's a complete non issue but why not speak to your insurance company just to be sure.

Quite likely all you really have to concern yourself with is anybody posting it on the C124PPY plates thread... smile

Not so. If the insurance company involved have a policy of not insuring anyone with non standard plates under any circumstances, then they might have a case for voiding the policy. But no insurer has such a stipulation, so it's irrelevant.

Two things to keep in mind...it's incredibly difficult for an insurer to void a policy so it's rarely done.

The claim not being related to the non disclosure does not have any relevance on whether or not a policy can be voided. If I took out life insurance with a terminal illness I didn't disclose, and was subsequently killed by a lightning strike, if the insurers found out about my terminal illness, they could void the policy.

Even if it was a hideous font with reversed writing. What grounds do insurance companies have to void a policy based on a number plate?

Oh do come on, of course they could void it because they wouldn’t have insured you in the first place with a terminal illness would they? really not the same thing is it?

Doesn’t it depend on if the seats are reclined for extra speed, at the time of the accident ? wink
