Country code for DBS checks?

My neighbour has had her DBS returned 3 times and now she knows it is because of 'ADC error, country code'. They are asking for the country code to her previous country of residence, the Philippines.

I found something called an ISO number (608) but is that what it is? Poor lady is trying to work as a key worker (care home) but now has waited 6 weeks due to these rejections so I'd like to be sure I am helping and not giving false hope with the number above?

Anyone know?

It could be country code such as GB for Great Britain, etc.

The country code for the Philippines is PHL.

The number you mentioned is an international telephone dialing code.

Thanks - appreciated. But that's the weird one,the dialling code is 0063. (I think)

I do think on reflection though that you are correct with PHL as the section they say has an error refers to an address and I do not think I have ever given a number here in my life but we do write UK, USA and so.

There are often different country codes for different international organisations, eg UN and International Olympic Committee, and of course international vehicle registration codes. The odd thing is GBR actually refers to United Kingdom (as it includes Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

In this case I would assume that they want the ISO 3166-1 alpha 3 code, but check. (There is also ISO 3166-1 alpha 2 code, and the ISO 3166-1 numeric which is where the 608 comes from)

Exactly - from what I can tell it is where you list previous addresses but the employer must be using a third party checker and entering details online as they say it has come back 3 times with the message 'ADC error - Invalid country code for (then the first line of the Philippines address given)


So I am guessing the computer until told it is PHL (or 608!!) cannot find the address as there is none with this name in the UK (if that is the default search)

I'm still more towards it being PHL but I guess she can advise the employer of the links above and ask if they have ever entered numbers?

PHL seems the one to go for. (My hope now is either is recognised (all three, PH, PHL or 608) as they seem to be linked to the international address database)
