Just got caught speeding...
Discussion
79 in a 50 on the Sidcup Bypass. Police traffic car was parked up on one of the slip roads.
I've currently got 3 points which expire in August but I believe they still show on my license for another year.
The officers said my speed was too excessive and I should expect an appointment with the courts. The only positive was they liked the C63 and said they heard me approach before zapping me with the speed gun...oh well...lol
What does PH think? Am I done for?

Points valid for totting purposes for 3 years
Stay on licence for 4 years
Need to be declared for 5 years for insurance purposes
All run from date of offence, not date of conviction
Op is in for a band C fine and 6 points, a disqualification of 7-56 days is possible. You won't be banned and get points., it's one or the other

I know it doesnt change anything but that s
tty piece of road used to be 70.
It was the section heading toward London, just after the Orpington slip road where it becomes a 50. The police car was sitting on the next slip road which connects to the slip road for Sidcup, which I then joined to get off the A20. They followed me for a bit and then pulled me over next to that college in Sidcup, just after the roundabout.

Courts can issue a discretionary disqualification, (7 to 56 days) and the 6 points remain on the licence. I think it's only regular bans (including Totting Up) remove the points and add the TT code to show the disqualification period (which can come off after 3 years)...Stay on licence for 4 years

From stop by police, to Single Justice Procedure Notice (processed by Dartford) is roughly 2 months, and once you've filled out the SJPN it can be up to a few weeks for the courts to provide a court date and send the summons. Speaking from experience, sadly

If you're doing 79 in a 50, would you not normally be keeping a close eye on the rear view mirror for marked and unmarked cars?Edited by Powerfully Built PSC Director - Outside IR35 on Sunday 10th May 20:02

Thanks for that info. I do wonder if the Corona stuff will delay things somewhat.

79/50 is too fast for a course. Also too fast for a £100 fixed penalty with 3 points. I've currently got 3 points which expire in August but I believe they still show on my license for another year.

You should expect an SJPN to be issued within 6 months. Otherwise, a Postal Requisition. You can deal with this online (makeaplea) or by post. Online is preferable.
You should anticipate 6 penalty points. Otherwise, a disqualfication of any length but not usually in excess of 56 days.
The fine is limited to £1000. Subject to the maximum, the fine is commensurate with your declared net weekly income and your plea. If you plead guilty and N is your net weekly income then the most likely fine is N and the sentencing range is N x ⅚ to N x 7/6.
You will also be liable for prosecution costs (usually around £85) and a so-called victim surcharge; levied at 10% of the fine subject to a minimum of £34.

Many thanks agtlaw and very helpful too, I really appreciate your taking the time to reply. You should expect an SJPN to be issued within 6 months. Otherwise, a Postal Requisition. You can deal with this online (makeaplea) or by post. Online is preferable.
