Neighbor Incident

Hi guys,

I was in the lift going up to my flat when 2 of my neighbors entered the lift even though i told them not to because of our building rules (1 person max because you know, pandemic and all that) one of them kept touching my shopping and after telling them not to they got grump (like that makes sense?) till one of them started mumbling and threatened to slash my tiers then proceeded to attack me, she clawed at my neck and ripped my jumper when pulling on it, till her friend (also my neighbor) stopped her. Shes a 40 year old woman who causes nothing but trouble in our community. I decided not to fight back because its all on CCTV however im not sure if the lift camera has audio.

Police were called and a report was filed but my main question is, im more scared of her damaging my car and i feel like she would but if she does, will the police make her pay for the damages or will i need to hire a lawyer? and how would that play out with my insurance? ive never been in this situation so please forgive my lack of knowledge on this area.

I have set up a camera facing my car just to at least document visual proof.

If there was evidence of her slashing your tyres/damaging your car then a prosecution would be a possibility
As to making her pay for them that would be a matter for the court if she was convicted to make a compensation order - which isn't guaranteed or might be at some silly amount a month depending on her financial state.

I would think a lift with multiple users is one of the higher risk places for transmission. Probably worth considering wearing a mask when using it as you don't know how soon you're following the previous user.

Oh ffs, i would rather have the payment than a prosecution because its get the damages fixed Hate to be the who judges someones financial position but from what ive seen she couldnt afford to replace the wing mirrors without having to skip a meal or 2.

In all honesty it was the fact that she violated the 2m distancing because ive got vulnerable people in my household, now ive had to self isolate for the next 2 weeks. Yeah, thankfully i was wearing a mask and gloves.

my shopping bags were already in the lift, I had done about £60 worth of shopping so you can imagine the amount of bags i had to carry myself.

OK then, 14 days of self isolation seems like reasonable penalty given the alternative of having to move your shopping bag.

Ok - I’m lost. Just how high are the apartments/how slow is the lift in order for you to get from ground level to whatever floor you’re on to allow a slight verbal confrontation to end up as a physical one - without you doing/saying anything wrong.

The building is 9 stories, Lift goes fairly slow. I’m on the 6th and she’s on the 4th. How it got physical is what I’m trying to comprehend. They were both drunk if i didn’t mention that. She started to get physical as soon as we stopped on her floor.

+1 apart from lack of punctuation, the poor bloke doesn’t seem to have done anything wrong.
