You've already received the NIP within 14 days. There seems very little point waiting 14 days before returning it - you've got 28 days to return it.
If you delay past the 28 days then you're at risk of a FTF charge - which will see your 3pts become 6pts and an increase in fine.

The mis spelling will be deemed an acceptable minor error and not be a line of defence that will work. There have been many such minor errors in the past and to no effect as defence.
