Going round in circles with this one don@t know whether to give in and go and but another one basically bought a dishwasher from a well known online retailer after 8 months it packed up eventually got them to send an engineer out as they have to legally try and fix first (I assume ) who replaced the water pump it worked once and then packed up again.
The problem is it started just as Covid was kicking off so was taking weeks and hours on the phone and waiting for replies basically kept being told to wait and we will be in contact.
Fast forward a few months and guess what we are now told it is out of warranty !!

As you reported the fault before the warranty ran out, it's still down to them to sort it.

What is wrong with it? Repairs are normally covered for 12 months, so if the issue is the water pump again it should be covered. Either way, you want the engineer to have a look at it again.

What brand of dishwasher? Most of them are 2y+ warranties because they are well aware of the arguments surrounding these things being required to last a reasonable amount of time. The retailer might just be being difficult.

Thanks for replies It's a Kenwood model have spoken to them and the retailer both denying responsibility all they are offering is for us to pay £100 and take extended warranty wkers
The fault was it wasnt emptying water did all the hose checks no blockages etc before calling been here before with them years ago with a TV which they could'nt fix and eventually after trying to repair twice and then returning it damaged they gave a voucher code to purchase a new one but this time they are coming out with all the excuses to top it all when the engineer left we noticed later being a silver one he had scratched the front door
The problem I have is we now have several numbers as people keep saying you need to call another number plus a chain of emails last one saying you signed the engineers job sheet to say it was fixed which it was for ONE use until it broke again !!
There is part of me that has spent enough time on the phone etc getting nowhere that just thinks bks and go and buy a new one but there is part of me that wants to pursue it out of principal

The thing a lot of people don't realise is that you don't get a warranty on a warranty repair, it will only be covered for the original period.

You need to prove they were made aware prior to warranty expiry and it should be honoured, not your fault (or theirs) that Covid hit and as a responsible supplier/ manufacturer they should recognise this. It might be worth pointing out that if it went to court, it wouldn't look good for them ducking out of a warranty due to the world being on lockdown.

Your post isn't clear but I'll assume the below is correct

Machine failed within warranty period
Customer reported failure within warranty period,

Much to-ing and fro-ing with the machine inoperative - machine warranty expires

Engineer attends and repairs (enables machine to run 1 cycle) outside warranty
1 day later machine fails and customer reports failure to customer services/store

If the above is correct .. I'd pursue it out of principal

Practice your arms folder and sad face for the FBposts & local rag thumbup

i have often found that a veiled threat can have good results.
Talk to whoever deals with the warranty claims, and when they start giving you the runaround take out a notebook and pen and ask for their name.
When they ask why tell them "It's the first question my solicitor will ask". Then wait as he goes scampering off to find a manager biggrin

Your complaint is with whichever company sold the washing machine to you and also seems to fall within the remit of the Consumer Rights Act.

Which have a handy guide that also contains a complaint letter template:

If you paid by credit card you might have enough protection for them to cancel the transaction and refund you.

Hi again just to update this and clarify a couple of questions the repair was carried out with in the warranty period basically 8 months but because it was just before lockdown a further attempt to repair wasnt going to happen as were not sending out engineers
The crazy thing is this is my daughters dishwasher and thought I would try the wisdom on Pistonheads as struggling where to go with it for advice now I have been in to the store I won't name it but it is one of Britain's favourite takeaways previously before lockdown to try and see if anything could be done but basically got nowhere fast forward today my daughter thought give it one last attempt when in store spoke to someone and within 30 seconds said no problem will get another one out to you !!
So what was the last 5 months all about suppose at least its sorted now

We were looking at a Kenwood Fridge/Freezer in Currys. I don't like Currys so I asked Kenwood who else stocked them. Their reply shocked me:
Thank you for contacting the Kenwood retail Store.
This appliance is manufactured and sold by Currys, under a Licensing Agreement. Accordingly, Kenwood Ltd isn't the designer, manufacturer, importer or supplier of this product.
Curry’s are solely responsible for all pre/post sales and all liabilities relating to the product. For advice on these products please contact Currys Customer Service Helpline.

So basically it wasn't a Kenwood, they just prostituted their name and reputation.
I'm surprised they didn't just fob you off back to the retailer.

How was the appliance paid for? If CC do a charge back. end of. The warranty expiration won't hold water anyway notwithstanding they can't avoid by delaying your claim due to recent events. As said, CC charge back! Its dead simple.

Small claims court

goods not of merchantable quality > Somewhere i have read that this could be up to 6 years, certainly if it goes fubar after 12 months there is a very good chance you will win.
