Stopped for speeding, what next?

I was pulled over for speeding (M54, police with a gun on the bridge, a car then pulled out and pulled me over).

No arguments about the fact I was speeding, filled out the paperwork, and he said he was sending it to the traffic dept (?) and I would get a letter about the next stage of proceedings. Very nice chaps actually.

My question is, when should I expect to hear something? It happened about 3 weeks ago, and nothing in the post yet.

The six month thing is not as it used to be it's possible to get the bad news after six months nowadays.

Too much excess for anything other than a summons.

96 on the motorway.

I was just a bit worried it might have got lost, but will just wait now if it can be upto 6 month.

Can't offer much advice on what's next, but unlucky getting caught on the M54! Spent 8 years going back and forth between Walsall/Shrewsbury every day and can probably count on 1 hand the amount of police I've seen.

Where about were they lurking?

You are unlikely to get a ban as under 100mph. IANAL but I suspect a fine and 3 points. Too much for a SAC.

Depends where it is, been done twice for 96 ( I know, it was a long time ago) one was a mandatory court hearing, other was standard points and fine, different areas.

Only has to reach court by six months, you could receive your paperwork after that date.

unfortunately 95 should have seen you with a fixed penalty £100 and 3 points

Expect a band B fine and 4-6 points plus the extras. Anything upto 6 months wait for the paperwork to arrive

7 months later nothing, I spoke to a solicitor and the police have 6 months to process the paper work to the court. They also advised me 50% of the time the police won’t put it forward it all depends on how you acted and Any previous driving endorsements.

Wait and see. It’s done now and you have just as much chance of hearing nothing.

That’s strange 92 would be a fixed penalty, are you sure it wasn’t a 60 limit?

I think getting away with it 50% of the time is a bit optimistic, maybe once in a 100 times

It's certainly not as optimistic as 90%.

Nope M25 70mph, I was doing 92 which was a Band B offence I think. To high for fixed penalty and he took my details and he said within 6 months I’ll get a letter: nothing.

I agree 50% seems weird but I’m only going on what I was told and I know I was very lucky.
