Surprised nobody commented on this.

Excellent programme.

Showed where various advanced drivers, including one IAM instructor, had come croppers due to badly maintained roads.

One incident due to flooding caused by poor drain maintenance, Plymouth council cleared the drains, then put lower limits and speed cameras in. Finally had to admit it was their fault.

Covered the overbanding issue when patching done by utilities.

Also covered the Stone Mastic Asphalt issue in some depth.

This SMA is a real problem in our area. One road has only been resurfaced two weeks ago. Already two collisions been cleared up, some unexplained holes in fences various, and more rubber on the road than you find end of season at Paddock Bend. :(

There are a few topice in General. I saw this and was amazed at how many councils under spend their budget whilst putting white paint all over the roads and planning stupid junctions etc.

Excellent Programme. The cheap practice of overbanding road repairs with a non skid filler, should be banned now.Even after a biker was killed at one spot, the council ignored All the evidence and denied claims--while burning off the cause.

The cheap methods used to resurface the roads and the increased accidents spots shown, was incredable.Complete ignorance by the Highways dept,s.All the protests and progs will do nothing, So bring in manslaughter charges against the councils highway boss and contractors------and Sue the council everytime, as is the policeman who lost his wife.
It was stated that £8 Billion would bring the roads back to the 70,s standards-- No chance of that!!!

Ist always "cheapskate practice". Poor civil engineering regarding drains und cheap surfaces do not help.

Und why do utilities always dig up a road after councils have resurfaced too?

We pay enough in taxes to fund all this collectively - but then ...ist much better to waste cash on "fact finding jolly in some sunny place"

I'm posting here too as I want everyone to realise this

This is a subtle yet very effective tactic. I’ve commented on this previously.

Additional ‘improvements’ at speed camera sites are never documented (like clearing the drains in this particular case). This approach forces favourable results to be measured from speed cameras, even when ‘regression to the mean’ is factored in.

Very true, if anyone else tampered with "evidence" like that, what do you suppose would be the result. Maybe the HSE should be called in to accidents such as this?
