Pauline Fielding, from Heswall, helped form Roadpeace North West after her 18-year-old son, Andrew, was killed in a car crash 11 years ago.
She said: "These figures are disturbing and appalling.
"There needs to be proper analysis of where and how these crashes are happening and what can be done to reduce them. I want speed limits to be lowered, particularly on some of the country roads, but there needs to be an integrated approach with traffic calming and better education."
The sad thing is that she probably really believes that speed is the cause of these accidents. We all want safer roads.... when will the govt realise that
driver training (maybe a mandatory retest every 5/10 years (a pain to be sure, but how many numpties would it remove??) and money being spent on the roads

might just work.?? oh no, no money in that is there? oh boy.

Rant mode on
how dare they spend our f
g money on devices to make our lives miserable and not a lot safer??
I wonder how many have died as a result of piss poorly maintained roads since this lot have got in.
If it was a private company responsible for road safety they'd probably be up for corporate manslaughter
f
g disgusting.

well thick people never achieve anything worthwhile. Actually I want more dangerous roads then stupid bastards like this stop using them cos they are scared. Ergo they become safer due to lack of numpties
Let's......take a step back, and ask the forbidden question. Why does the government want to reduce accidents?.............
In MY view, it's Not because they are SO worried about your safety that they are driven to truly altuistic heights of concern about you and your child.
The real truth is: They are worried by the cost on the NHS, the Police service, the Fire service,et al, of accidents.
The only problem is, that they believe that the cure for the problem is simple, they listen intently to unqualified, unrepresentative people such as BRAKE, T2000 Etc, and THEY say: "the problem is speed". Only SPEED. WELL........BOLLEAUX!!!!
In the birth of the railway era, drivers were often fined for exceeding 50 mph, even when it was perfectly safe to exceed it, eventually they HAD to give in. Good job too, otherwise all our trains would be running at 50 mph now. (MMmmh! Ok. OK, I know!)
This government is keen for us to "compete" in the forthcoming "global fight for survival", how does restricting traffic speeds on motorways to a 40 yr old "out of date" limit help in this?
When they, (or anyone else for that matter) addresses the real problems then I, may vote for them,....... NOT BEFORE.

Anyone hear Tony bLIAR yesterday at PMQs, the lying barsteward said that THEIR initiatives on the roads had SAVED 10000 LIVES!!!!! what a bunch of lying footpigs!!!
What about the taxpaying white christian majority legal drivers who have to put up with all their chicanes humps gatsos, not to mention bus lanes and greenslime numpties blocking the roads with their vehicules!!!

Interesting to note in the article that a £700,000 carrot was being dangled in front of the local council to reduce accidents...
This is the real cause of the issue - the council are being offered £700k to reduce accidents, and it only costs them money gained from fines to earn this cash.
Who drives the Pratnerships? Its the councils...

So Pauline Fielding said: "...These figures are disturbing and appalling.

So she wants "proper analysis" and then goes on to say, without any proper analysis, that she wants speed limits lowered.
