I moved into a brand new house and signed up with Sky for tv and broadband in March, think it was a years contract.

The TV guy came out as planned, but could not get a satellite signal due to some large tree's in the way.

The broadband required a phone line to be installed over-head, around 30Metres, and into my attic.

I took a days holiday for the open-reach guy mid march, he didn't show or call.

Then covid happened, and was told open-reach are not doing new installs.

Then a month ago i took a days holiday, the guy turned up, but couldn't do the job as he needed a cherry picker and a second guy.

Then last week, i had another days holiday, Open-reach did turn up with a cherry picker, and installed the cable into the property, but then realised there was no spare lines at the telegraph pole rolleyes

They need to run another cable to a different pole, but as it was now 4PM, they will do it the day after.

The day after i get a text from the Open-reach guy informing me its all done and working.

Only when i got home from work, it didn't work..... and just get an orange light.

Ive had several calls to Sky since, and they getting me to unplug and plug it back in, but no joy.
And want me to take another days holiday for an engineer to visit again.
Ive asked for an engineer to come after 5PM, but they claim its not possible rolleyes

Ive explained i am not taking another days holiday, so they will need to resolve it without access to my property, as the fault must be further down the line.
And will not be paying them a penny for non service.

I have now simply had enough of their incompetence, and want to cancel.

I am using a 4G router at the moment, and will get an aerial to put on the outside of the house to boost the signal.

But are they likely to just let me cancel? In my opinion they have failed to to comply with their side of the contract?

Surely you don't need to ask them if you can cancel? Just cancel it and write to tell them why. Cancel any bank payments as well.

Christ, a typical Openreach/Sky/BT/Plusnet et all fk up.

This is one of the reasons I pay extra to have a leased line.

Good luck getting it sorted.
