Have over the past week being read various forums/net sources re best of breed re speed camera protection. Seems the Origin b2 and new Road Angel rate very highly and are popular choice. Doe anyone have opinion on the better buy and why? Any views welcome. I am somewhat confused as to why these devices have laser detectors in build as would seem somewhat pointless given any detect would simply tell u about history – ie your already done and likely not register at all.

Seems only waytoget full laser based protection is via inclusion of some form of diffuser product ( seems LRC 100 is weapon of choice) but legality of these devices is highly questionable – hence high risk?

I have a B2 which is pretty good - only real issue is that it occasionally jumps out of it's cradle (bumpy roads in 3.2 Carrera).

There was a thread on here recently (try doing a search) where there were a few complaints about the Road Angel - so on that evidence I'd go for the Origin.

I am a big fan of microRoadpilot - easy stealth installation, not big and bulky (size of a box of matches), accurate with good easy to use features.

Inforad - cheap as chips - hasn't missed a beat (or a camera ) yet.

Spent sometime researching both the B2 & RA. Chose RA for 3 reasons: 1. Simpler to use, but does the same job at the end of the day. 2. Transportable between cars (using fag lighter cable) 3. Big display speedo.
If unlike me, you love messing around with gadgets & only want to use it one car (or are prepared to have cradles fitted in your other cars) then the B2 will be your choice.

I've got the B2 and found it very good, database seems quick to update new camera but can be slow to remove old locations. the voice can get a bit anoying but it is very handy as it tells you exactly what's comming up.

All in all had no problems with it at all.

Me too, as it is a neat install and does what the others do.

Does it have a speed display? Can you move it between cars?

Yes it has a large speed display and yes you can move it betweeen cars but it would be better if you buy 2 cradle/install kits as it is really designed for 'fitting' rather than just sticking to the screen.
Only niggle is it only has a green screen option, (RA has switchable red/green) I have mine fitted in centre console (BTW the '0' is the speed reading);

Very neat & if I didn't want to use the unit in other cars it would be great, but I regularly use 4 different cars. What is good about the B2 & RA is that both can be taken out when you park, to prevent theft.
Can you (easily) do the same with the RP? I guess it is in a cradle like the B2?

It slides out of its cradle really easily, (but won't fall out) and has the same type of cradle for Internet update (USB) best thing is that it's so small, (about 2" square & 1/2" thick - yet still has quite a large screen), so it fits in your pocket easily. The kit did come with a Cigarette lighter socket so you can move it but the antenna is separate and has lots of cable so would be awkward to keep moving, I think an extra cradle/antenna etc is about £100 so not unreasonable for 2 cars, from what I've seen the RA seems the most portable.

Thanks for the info. catso, the R/P wasn't around when I did my research! But your right R/A easy to move between vehicles as it is a self contained unit.
