I'm going to try to be nice.

You bought 2 sofas with 0 research relying on the word of a motivated sales agent regarding sizes? There were 2 of you? Would sitting in the sofa not have revealed it a tight squeeze for 3? Also at the same time revealed something about the "bum feel"?

The size and cushioning didn't change with time. You were made aware that extra cushioning options were available (a bit of a red flag that this was necessary for some people)

You saw, you sat, you bought.

What exactly are you claiming for?

Sofa's bought from censored should be treated as annual disposable items.

Expecting anything more is naive.

You've had yours for 2 years, consider that a result.

Agree with previous posters. Re the cushion squishiness, you can buy foam, cut it to the size of your current cushions, and have comfy bums for not a lot. Make the best of a bad situation, and next time, think, compare and read reviews smile

We spent about £100 with a local upholsterer, who refilled the sofa with decent harder wearing material, plus bought some new cushions too, and the sofa lasted another 18 months..

Maybe another way to solve the plumping issue (although it won't fix the size lol)

A few weeks ago I must have sat on 50 sofas before choosing the right one, upgrading the cushions because it was 10x better. I'm not made of money either, just requires effort.

As others mentioned, motivated salesperson will tell you anything to close. 2 years in my opinion is too long, if you raised it immediately might have been different.

Upgrading the cushion internals will probably save the day.

Glad you quoted it Chicken Dinner.

That’s a great public service by you, for when we drag the guy off to The Hague for buying the wrong sofa.

First of all, 2 years? Really? You called them last year to complain and never followed through on it? Surely you realised after the first evening using it that there may be a problem.

Any hoo, there’s plenty of places online that’ll cut foam to your sofa’s size and put it in a stocking thingy (to make it easier to put it in its cover) for a reasonable cost that’ll solve the comfort issue.

Do this and move on.

2 years!

Where do you live? I am giving away a three piece suite including sofa bed to BHF but they have a huge lead time for collection and I want them gone now. They are very comfy and the cushions don’t flatten or need plumping.

It’s charcoal grey and was bought from a sofa shop about 8 years ago.

Free to collect from Hove. But I don’t want your sofa in exchange, thank you.

OP - you have to know how unreasonable all of this sounds, objectively speaking, surely?

As said previously it's hard not to be overly critical, but some of it beggars belief and it's tough to know where to start.

- Owning the sofa for 2 years, apparently never being happy with it, but only really making a half-hearted complaint about it "last year". If it was uncomfortable now, it was uncomfortable when you first got it.

- Having the option to buy more comfortable filling, but choosing not to because you couldn't afford it. So there was an option available, and as eruditely put by the first guy that replied, the fact there even was the option for that should have rung alarm bells.

Also, who doesn't sit on and measure a sofa set to make sure it's the right size and feels the way they want it to feel?

The whole post smacks of wanting compo without any sensible justification for it.

I’m baffled OP.

How exactly do you expect this to go?

“Oh sorry Mr OP, your 2 year old suite IS rubbish, here’s a new one free of charge”

You chose it, you measured it, you bought it.

It’s a sofa, you can sit in it, it’s fit for purpose.

And if you didn’t like it, you should have piped up about 1 year and 11 months ago, minimum.

Buy another one. By all means go back to the same place, they may recognise your loyalty and if you mention your dissatisfaction, they might chuck some more discount at you but they have zero obligation to....

There's some unfortunate truth in this. Maybe, like Wagon Wheels, it's me who has changed size.

What about our hero though. His old sofa was a 3/4 seater, and he went to buy a replacement and in the shop it was fine, but at home it's only a 2 seater?

Surely he hasn't doubled in width in such a short time?

Ponder no longer.
No.

You should also invest in a tape measure and someone to accompany you on your next retail experience.
