Warranty with retailer of manufacturer?
Discussion
I purchased a lawn mower. Worked fine for 26 months, then the engine seized, due to the oil filler tube coming loose, and the oil disappearing. A design feature, now rectified.
Retailer says two year warranty, manufacturer says 3 years. Retailer says take it up with the manufacturer, who has closed phone lines and only allows email contact.
Predictably, i get no response from them at all after two months and several emails.
Who do I chase?

The warranty is provided by the manufacturer and is enforceable. Your contract is with the retailer.
If they are trying to put you off then theyre equally likely to offer as small a depreciated credit as they can (3rd year of 6), so Id make them aware and see that it is recorded, and then pursue the manufacturer.

To follow up.... never managed to contact the manufacturer. Retailer excelled themselves, contacted them on my behalf, arranging collection of the mover for delivery to the manufacturer .
3 days later it was returned, complete with new engine.
Good stuff.
