Hire cars and tyres

I recently hired a premium car for the weekend from one of the big companies - a company which I’ve hired from around 12 times in the past 18 months.

While driving home, I noticed that there was an obvious pull to the left while at motorway speeds and while accelerating from stationary, so I was thinking the tracking may need looked at.

When I arrived home I checked the tyres and there was heavy wear around the outer rim of one tyre.

I returned the car and they insisted this tyre wear was fine, and there was no tracking issue as the car was recently driven by the location manager.

My question for those with tyre knowledge - based on the picture, is this wear legal? If it was an MOT situation, would this be an advisory or a fail?

Alright fine, serious answer, it’s definitely legal from what I can see here but would probably be an advisory.

Wear like that is not necessarily indicative of a problem with the tracking, not that the location manager is likely to be any kind of expert.

Someone’s been sheening it around roundabouts.

What premium model is this , looks like it has plastic hubcaps on steel wheels ?

Thanks for the input guys. Good to know it’s legal, as it’s not something I normally check on hires.

It was a Tesla Model X. Not the nicest wheels tbh.
