A45, Coventry Road, Bickenhill 50mph Speed Camera?

I was coming back from Birmingham airport late at night and came off the junction onto the A45, joined onto a dual carriageway but didn't realize it was a 50 zone, only after checking my NAV and seeing I'd gone past a camera and realized it was a 50 zone. I didn't notice any flash.

I tried searching up details about this camera but I couldn't find any information online at all regarding the camera itself at all.

I was wondering if anyone knows if this camera is still in function? Its view is slightly obscured by some bushes when I checked it on Maps street view.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm much of a worrier, never gotten any points in 75k miles of driving but I was literally doing 70 past this mistakenly. There were signs but I guess it had been a long day of work, to the airport after to pick my parents then back home and I wasn't paying full attention to the speed signs and had never really been in that area to know.

I didn't sense a flash and checked my dashcam footage after which didn't pick up any flash so I don't believe it did, it would be really obvious right? This type of back facing camera would definitely have to flash at night to catch my plate right?

Thank you for any advice/peace of mind that can be provided. I will lose sleep over this for sure for the next 14 days unless someone from the area knows good details about this, so thought I'd ask here incase

I wouldn't be losing sleep over it, unless 3 points would put you up to 12 on your licence.

If the camera did get you then unless you were doing 76+mph it won't be more than 3 points.

The table is a bit old now as it should be SJPN rather than Summons, but the bands are the same.

Exactly this. You were either zapped, or you weren't. Just relax and forget about it until you get a letter, or 14 days has passed with no letter (assuming you are the keeper of the car).

Don't worry, all of the fixed cameras in the West Midlands county have been switched off for some while, but a number have been replaced by average speed cameras (on yellow poles) and camera vans. If you didn't go through an average speed camera section, then you won't have been caught

Coventry Road! Nostalgia fest - scene of my childhood and youth. I haven't done much speeding there. Must make amends!

No fixed cameras aside from average one's now working, you mention the camera was obscured by bush's, that's because no maintenance is carried out anymore, one in monkspath by the golf course is facing the sky, might get a few birds speeding.

Cameras round there don't work, JLR workers fly through them well above 50mph!

Back in the days before cameras, in the early hours of the morning (@2am), I used to come off the M1 at junction 17, hit the M45 at @140mph, and then head towards Coventry on the two lane A45 still belting along at over 100mph, using both lanes to straighten out the road.

It always reminded me of a stretch of the Le Mans race circuit!

They put traffic observation cameras at each end of the M45, but you could still travel at well over 100mph without being bothered by the Police, and they put a permanent camera on a downhill section, just after a blind bend (by the big road sign), but once you knew it was there, you knew to slow down to the speed limit just before the bend.

Then you had another camera on the uphill section after the roundabout, just before the bend that led onto the section of road in front of the old Peugeot plant (that shows how long ago it was! ), and another camera on the downhill section, just after the Peugeot plant, by the flyover bridge.

I've got some happy memories of "making progress" on that M45/A45 section!

I remember one at Shelley Farm shops but it was pretty average. We used to go to either Seaspray or Velis.

OP, drive as fast as you want past that camera, they've not worked for years.

In the days when the motorshow was at the NEC. Land rover used to shuttle interested people to their place for a coffee and a ride around the jungle track. One year they used a fleet of cars and I had a ride back in a new V6 freelander. I asked him what it went like, so he showed me. Definitely wouldn't have been cameras then, unless all the tickets went to the press office.

As an aside, my MIL lives just off that road in Yardley, but we go cross country to her.

If the camera you're on about is on the out of city A45 between the airport slip and the M42, just before the the service station you're fine (TBF as long as you're in the W Mids, there's no cameras except for average speed, which are the other way from just past the Wheatsheaf (Aldi) to past the Swann on the A45. The camera you went through is definitely not working currently but I believe there's supposed to plans to put some new equipment in 'random' locations.....

Memory must have failed me. I was thinking of Chequers in Hall Green, on the Stratford Road.
