People using my personal data - GDPR- What are my options

Hey Everyone,
Need a little thought on this. I am a v private individual as a whole and dont give out my details freely. Dont do Facebook, LinkedIn, Insta - none of that. I dont like being in the public eye. I am however (as part of my side gig) an expert in a certain IT related field and my name is recognised.
A few days ago, I suddenly found myself subscribed to an extremely specific, area of expertise daily chat email thing.. I never signed up for such pap! So I enquired with the company who owns it and (I paraphrase)
Its public information and we scraped it so bog off.
Yes, the information of my name and my email address are out there because it is a part of the whole process of people being able to ask questions etc etc. I didn't put it there to be co-opted into a third rate newsletter.
Normally, I would just say "meh" and bin it but this is a UK based company. As far as I can see they had no right to scrape my information (And also therefore breaking the T&Cs of the website I published my contact information along with my work). They would at least fail the legitimate interest as I had no previous dealings with them and I didnt opt to get their junk.
I have already made a complaint and asked to whom GDPR complaints should be addressed.
Companies like this boil my urine and I want to go after them, because I hate data brokers and their ilk in general. I have plenty of time on my hands and I really want to make them rethink this general data grab they are doing.

ETA Even with all the data about me on here, very unlikely anyone will be able to identify me.I Believe it would depend on how they obtained your information, if you have given it to a website to register with them, and they have sold it to a third party, then it would depend on whether there is something in the registration that allows you to opt out of receiving third party marketing, and whether you have done that.
Or, if you have published your information somewhere online, and someone has picked it up and targeted you for marketing.

This is one of the reasons I have my own domain with infinite emails. All the emails redirect to my gmail but I can see the address they were sent to. So, when I enrol with, say, Tesco I use tesco@mydomain.whatever. If Tesco then sell it on/give it away I know it was them and can moan at them and block the incoming.

Now sure the above is a company flogging GDPR related services so cannot be taken as gospel but generally list broking is working off the principle that it's a "corporate" email address and therefore cold mailing is permitted vs a personal address. Sole traders like xyz plumber at hotmail for example would fall under B2C so cold mailing would be a no, no.

Or you could just use a single Gmail account. Youraddress+Tesco@gmail.com would send it to your account, and you can see where they are coming from.BertBert said:
