Police ID of car type - incorrect?

Just saw this pop up on another site, some poor lady being knocked off her bike by a throbber speeding over a crossing:

Police say they believe the car is a 206 or 207CC, but to my eye that doesn't ring true. Rear wheel position looks too far forward relative to the roof pillar, and the rear overhang is too big. Just wondering what the PH hive mind think about it - am I wrong? Or is it actually a 307/Megane/Astra/Focus/something else CC?

I agree about the 206/207CC wheel positioning...but it could just be due to the camera not capturing all of the vehicle in a single frame and then blurring 2 frames together.
I was about to settler on the Megane CC, but I can't seem to find one with dark side mouldings...so am leaning more towards the 307CC.
But then the window opening shape looks wrong, and the bottom of the folding roof buttress isn't as wide.

My initial thought was BMW 3 series 2004ish with hardtop fitted??

Given the article states the car returned then left ... Plod probably have better footage of the vehicle & determine it being a PUG,

If they put out the appeal at the time rather than 2 months later people would be better placed to help, someone may have seen the car around that time and caught it on dashcam but with the time delay it would have been overwritten by now.
Had the police come round my parents asking about their Ring doorbell last summer as someone was robbed further up the road but as they waited over a month before enquiring the footage was automatically deleted.

We often had Met Pol over to us, used car sales at Park West BMW, to ask us to look at grainy photos etc.
Probably could identify the model, year etc within 2 seconds and explain why, with the styling and details.
Took them 3 weeks of trying to work out even what manufacturer before they asked.
We had many visits after that.
