Vehicle tax queries

I know this is probably on the DVLA's site somewhere but I find it hard to navigate like all government sites.

I have 2 vehicles a car and motorcycle, both on monthly DD's for road tax.

1. I'm in the process of selling the car, once the car has gone do I simply cancel the DD or do I have to update something on the DVLA's site?

2. The bike will probably only be used on track this year, so I am looking to SORN this, again I will need to SORN on-line but do I just cancel the DD?

If you find the dvla sites hard, dont go and look at HMRC.

As the Dugmaster states do the change of vehicle ownership online. Then log onto your bank and cancel the relevant direct debit. As you were on monthly DDs their is nothing further to do (except insurance).

The bike is easy to SORN online as well, then cancel the DD for this as well if currently taxed.

I think you can happily cancel the DD provided you have informed DVLA of the change so there is no more to pay.
