I hear you. I'm in central London and travel out on A4, M4 and then down M25 regularly - the amount of cameras is eye watering. But so is the ease with which they are tripped, especially in these times when the roads are less populated. I've got to mend my ways I know, but in the mean time....... I’ve only once managed to report a mobile trap that had not already been reported, and that’s in about 5 years of using Waze - I was one of the first users when it was still mapping roads in the UK. It has saved me a considerable number of points over the years. I suspect the next iteration will be an ANPR add on that will flag previously tagged unmarked cars.When I operate the speedgun I often open waze. I use a cheap android smartphone (Moto G cost me £60 off eBay) deleted everything I could off the phone and just have the Tom Tom speed camera app on the Home Screen. Get a £1 three PAYG SIM card which gives you 200mb of free data a month, if you go over just tether to your main phone. Turn off everything that uses data on 3/4g except the Tom Tom app.
I have the phone permanently mounted in my car and open the app whenever I go out. Warning when approaching speed cams and best of all it gives you average speed through roadwork cams too. Along with most mobile site as well.
I have an old Samsung I would like to do that with as a stand-alone Waze machine but I need a new glass front after the dog cracked it. Finding one is the problem due to it’s age. Maybe not upgradable firmware issues too? It still works really well after a charge but my newer phone is the one actually used day to day.
Waze will not alert audibly unless you are actually over the limit.
It will only come up on your phone screen silently.
So let's say 20 seconds before the speed camera you miss the screen warning , then speed up over the limit. You get caught.
TomTom Amigo, is better. It gives a visual and audible warning whatever speed you are doing.
Waze is great for Mobile Traps Vans etc.
But TomTom also warns of them.
Both flagged from the communities.
I'm not sure which is the biggest UK community though? Best to have Waze on Top of TomTom Amego. Really need a charger on though as they eat phone batteries!
