Contacting DVLA unfit to drive

How do you contact DVLA during lockdown to report a relative who should notify DVLA of a medical condition that affects their driving . but refuses

DVLA , phone number .... it just refers you to the web portal

virtual web portal is useless .. they assume its your details ... and as the relative is not cooperating .. it wont allow you to refer to an advisor !!

that would be a final resort if they don't see sense , I was hoping to be able to contact DVLA and they can take it forward

Have you tried the web chat option? You could also try calling on the dot of 8am and hope to get in the queue straight away before it starts diverting people to the web portal.

yes web chat option is like the scene out of groundhog day ..you chat with an automated BOT ... then it asks you ,, are you the license holder you reply ... No ... and it says you need the license holder ..conversely . it asks you if you want an advisor .. you say Yes .. then it asks you to input your licence !!!!

Oh Christ, is the web chat a bot?! That's terrible! I had assumed it would've been manned (pun unintended) by humans working from home. Whoever invented chat bots needs to be chucked into a pit of fire ants.

Going out on a limb here but have you and any other family members tried to talk to the person involved to thrash out the issue? I know you say they refuse to inform DVLA but was that the end of it? Is the condition so serious that access to vehicle keys needs consideration to prevent driving? Do you know their insurance company who will probably be easier to get hold of? Have you got a local beat officer who could have a chat with them?

unfortunately relative is has a history of violence , i know from bitter experience that a rational conversation would sadly not work ,in this instance , i will contact the DVL;A first thing and get advice from an advisor ..not a bloody BOT !!!
