Red light camera didn't flash, was I caught
Discussion
Unfortunately I went through a red light earlier today through an (extremely unusual for me) lack of concentration. I have no qualms about accepting my punishment, no excuses, but was just wondering if I got caught. The light changed literally about 1 second before I went through. The camera is a Redguard with flash but the flash definitely didn't go off as I checked my rear facing dashcam. Please don't lecture me I know it was my fault I am just wondering if anyone knows whether these types of cameras always flash or not so I have an idea whether I was caught or not. Ta

The cameras tend to have a slight delay so don't go off immediately on the red light, anywhere from 1-3 seconds I believe.Plus you'd see 2 flashes, as they have to prove your vehicle was moving.
I reckon you'll be fine.

There is a camera like that near me, I’ve seen people jump the lights, it definitely flashes.un1corn said:
I thought red light cameras didnt flash.... At least some of them dont? Theres one near me which I think is infra red or something?
There may be some that don't flash, they may be video only or something. But I've definitely seen red light cameras flash, they do at Nuthall roundabout in Nottingham. jakesmith said:

Yes they flash. You're probably OK. However, I'm not paying your fine if you were caught.
