Saw a BiB on a motorway behind his JamJar looking down the scope of a laser the other day, and given I'm back into biking again now.. it made me think of the consequences for a biker from these traps?

I assume these new fangled 'guns' laser and snap a pic of the front of the vehicle, so what happens to bikes?

Do offending bikes simply get pulled by an attached unit down the road, or would they shoot the rear of the bike to snatch the plate (and would this stand up?)

Thnx

have seen on this forum before, of examples of people being caught by bib turning round and noting rear number plate number.

Apparently that is good enough to get you a NIP/Summons.

They just note your number plate, scameras vans with a video often spin the unit round to see you on tape.

Okies..

Just thought from a Legal PoV, if they Did that, they wouldnt have any actual evidence of you speeding.. only a rear shot of you 'assumingly' under the limit, and a front shot of 'some random biker' possibly exceeding the limit.

Food for thought.

Get a set of leathers with a blue front and black back, so you can easily say in court:

"It clearly wasn't me sir, it's a picture of two different people!"

It was more a question of IF two seperate photos could be legally used in conjunction, with the only one with a number plate in, being (assumingly) under the limit.

It has got anything to do with the photo's. The officer just has to stand up in court and tell them what he saw eg that bike at that speed.

I think that a single uncorroborated witness is not enough for a conviction (there is a case, but I don't know it).

I think if he stands up and says that the bike in the photo was reg mark xxx then that would be enough.

A friend of a friend..... actually another biker says he was done on the basis of a front reading radar and the officer taking a note of his number plate as he went by.
Stood up in court and confirmed that the reg'n he had noted belonged to said biker radared at said speed.

Guilty.
