I am heading off to a solicitor for full advice on this but anyone know of what is involved in removing a deed for water supply?
We have some agricultural land that contains a mains water feed and meter for our barn which goes on to supply 5 other fields with 5 owners. None of the owners want the water supply any more so while we have a consensus we want to get rid of the deed (before someone sells a parcel and we end up with someone who wants water).

Is this a fairly straight forward piece of paperwork to carry out?

cheers

I assume that this is an easement to run a water pipe across your land (a deed is just the document that creates or evidences the right).

It can be released by an express release which needs to be by deed. If title to any of the land -- whether your land (the servient tenement in the jargon) or the land with the benefit of the easement (the dominant tenement) -- is registered, an application should be made to HMLR to cancel the entries in the property register (dominant title) and charges register (servient title) once the deed has been executed.

It is all pretty straightforward but, unless you fancy learning something about land law, not really a DIY job.

Thanks for that, at least it is doable, will start look for a local legal bod to sort it for us.
