Scientific misconduct increasing in the US, up 50 percent from 2003. Pressure to publish and competition for grant money push some scientists to falsify data, fabricate patients and plagiarize.

How closely is this kind of stuff monitored in the UK?

Not that I'm suggesting anyone would make up statistics for financial gain and/or due to political pressure. Say, Scamera Partnerships, for example. Not suggesting that at all. No way.

I'm always suspicious when any group comissions a survey the results always seem to show that group in a good light or seem to backup their assertions.Cynical, moi? Never

I dont think its limited to scientific research to be honest.

Every government 'inquiry' seems to come out with the government squeaky clean...
