Some of you may remember the query I put up about the likely penalty for being caught drinking and driving for a second time - well the chappy in question got a 3 year ban and £100 fine. Just in case anyone is interested. A fair result I reckon.

Thanks

Dave

Only £100? Seems a bit low.

The lad's skint, so presumably that's why the fine is so low. It was the 3yr ban I was really referring to - harsh but fair.

Can't fine him too high. Need to leave him money to go celebrate not getting locked up. We are human after all, just ! ! !

IIRC correctly, 3 years is the minimum ban for a second offence within 10 years, so he is "lucky" that he received the minimum sentence.

2nd D&D offence should be a life ban.

Whilst I don't disagree that D&D is a serious offence, I don't think a 2nd offence warrants a lifetime ban. People make mistakes, and very silly people make them more than once - but hes a young lad of 21ish years of age. One day he will grow up and look back on his behaviour and regret it - at that point I don't think he should still be banned from driving. We need to be careful with these kind of things - give it a few years and driving 'a bit fast' could see you having your license revoked for life.

Remember, D&D wasn't always viewed in such a harsh light as it is these days.
