Not ideal but people avoid bans for far more trivial reasons so I don't have a massive problem with this. Hopefully she'll learn her lesson!
Edited to add that if her role is what I think it is then her claim of potentially having an impact on vaccine production is legitimate (though naturally this would be a very short-term issue as someone else would be brought in to replace her very quickly if needed!)

This is normal, if anyone is caught speeding facing a ban but for instance they are a carer for example and it would adversely affect the care of the people in their charge if they couldnt drive they would avoid a ban. But then that isnt news is it.

The Porsche mechanic who maintains her car is key to her getting to work, as is the person who makes his sandwiches for daily lunch, as are the people that maintain the roads that enable her to drive to work, etc. etc. We all have a part to play. Are they al to be given a pass as well?
Surely if she is so key then her employer would fund either a driver or taxis?

Well whatever, issue is its a complete non news story and as usual the media getting into a tizz about trying to land a punch on pharma those awful bad guys. But it really isn't a news story and people get away with bans regularly due to work issues across many industries, this story is designed purely to drum up some sort of viral response, clearly its worked!

Agree. 57 is not just taking the piss, the kinetic energy is 3.6 times that at 30.The points will stay on for some time (4+ years?). Insurance will go up. It reads to me as if they're saying her employment contract requires her to have a licence and therefore if she got a ban she'd be sacked and so that 'could' affect vaccine production.
Surely in that scenario the correct course of action is for her employer to waive the contract clause, if she's so vital to them, rather than the courts to waive the ban.

That was my thinking too... Plus, does her job even require her to be on-site every day? I've never worked in Pharma but I'm pretty sure someone in her position isn't physically testing batches.
The only consideration I can think of is that she might be on 24 hour call to come and deal with quality emergencies so the line doesn't get held up.
Is there such a thing as a provisional ban? Where you can only drive in very specific circumstances?
I think options open to the magistrate might have been a short ban and a fine or points and a fine.
If the person has pleaded guilty, shows remorse and asks to retain their licence, giving, in the opinion of the magistrate, a good enough explanation as to why, then the magistrate can opt for points. As happened here.
