eon has just changed to "eon next" apparently different company not a name change

eon next has presented a bill that i dont agree with that built up unknowingly to me while it was still eon

not sure where to direct a complaint ...all the links on eon direct you to the new website

Are you saying you’ve been charged for the same period / useage by both suppliers?

EonNext is a subsidiary of Eon, so first port of call is to determine what the meter read / changeover date was between the two suppliers, then confirm with both on the telephone. It shouldn’t be too hard to get in touch with either of them.

Complaining is something to do after talking and trying find a solution and failing.

no , i was on cheap night rate for the last 20 years , had a letter from eon april 2020 confirming it , somehow without me knowing its changed and ive been running night storage heaters at rate and my bill is 500£ north of what it ought to have been

my complaint is why was i put on a unsuitable rate/tarrif without being told /asked ...and why was the bill allowed to spiral out of control without a mention or asking for increased monthly payments

eon messed it up (imo) and eon next gave me the bill

We were with N Power and they were taken over by Eon Next. Behind all the nice emails I think you will find that Eon Next have had huge problems coping with all their "New" customers. Their system is odd?
We started to get strange bills, our account had a big CREDIT balance, they kept asking for meter readings but we have had smart meters for a number of years.
So I emailed Eon Next, a very polite and efficient lady got back to me. She asked for details of the meters, various other stuff, a number of emails back and forth. We had a good old chat, she knew what the problem was and how to correct it. This was perfect for me as I`m quite deaf and struggle to understand phone calls.
Our a account is now all in order. The direct debit is more than we were paying N Power, but I`m sure it will be reduced as our account is always in credit.

If your account has been transferred to E.on Next, including any arrears you owe, you will need to complain to E.on Next and dispute the arrears on the basis that you were never notified in the change of tariff.

For you info, E.on have been steadily removing any 'economy' night rates for a while now. They charge just the one rate regardless of when used.

How far back does the issue go? Over 12 months?

If you do the same as me, they will sort YOU about.
They caused the problem, so it’s up to them to correct it. As I said I found their customer section very efficient and helpful.

Eon UK's parent company bought Npower's parent company (Innogy) - so in the UK, Npower customers have been moved on to EON's new platform (EON Next - think of it as a new company, although in reality it's not, it's a new customer service and billing platform).

Sounds like you've been moved from the old EON platform to the new EON Next one - so your current supplier (Eon next) is the one to contact.

Was your previous night rate "just" an E7 tariff, or was it something more (E10/ e18 / heatwise etc)? EON have been phasing out those complex meter tariffs for a number of years. Staff at EON Next won't be able to see account history at EON though- so if the issue arose before you were moved across to EON next, you'll then need to speak to somebody at EON too.

Good luck - hopefully it'll get sorted without too much trouble!

As far as I know, your bill should show if you are on the best tariff. It should also state something like:

“Could you pay less?
Remember - it might be worth thinking about switching your tariff or supplier.”

It should also have a complaints procedure, and a contact for e.g.

“If you have followed the above steps, but your complaint remains unresolved after 8 weeks you can contact the Ombudsman Service: Energy on 0330 440 1624 or www.ombudsman-services.org/sectors/energy.”

I believe it should state that (or similar) on paper or on-line bills.

You've never looked.

EON's say it in bold at the bottom of 1st page (assuming a standard 2 page bill):

"Remember - if you switch tariffs, your terms and conditions may change significantly. E.ON EnergyPlan prices may change at any time. More
information about your tariff can be found in the 'About your tariff' section. You may also benefit from changing your energy supplier."

I have had a similar issue with the change from E.on to E.on next and my Economy 7 tariff was changed to a same day and night rate. Only found out when I got a far higher bill than I expected last week. Rang them straightaway to get it sorted and new bill with my up to date meter readings would be sent out. Revised bill was received this morning and although my customer readings were now on the bill - tariff was still wrong.
Rang again today, and it would appear that the 'old E7 tariff' was put in place when I called them last week , rather than backdated to when E.on next took on my supply in March.
Customer service person said it would take them some tome to sort out and would need supervisor to backdate the tariff and would I pay the revised bill and they'd be a refund credited on the next bill.

NO, I want a correct bill as I want this matter sorted, was my reply. Also said I hadn't realised they were now different companies, I thought it had been a name change. I was also likely to change suppliers now due to this issue.
I will await my next revised bill and update this thread.
It could be loads of E,on customers have been put on the wrong tariff and if they pay by DD are likely to be unaware of that change.

Everyone says direct debit is easy, when the above happens it becomes a magic money tree for the utility company.

Another one here - MiL's property was with NPower, went to E.On Next, then the bills all started going awry and it's taken 4 phone calls and a couple of pointed e-mails to get one that looks vaguely accurate (it's within £5-6, I can't be arsed to argue anymore...).

They're a shower of **** and genuinely don't care - wife had one chap literally say "wait for your next bill, it'll all be on there" when she asked for a breakdown of a several-hundred quid charge (for a 2-bed place running Economy 7 and storage heaters). Of course, it wasn't... mad

I gave up waiting for my revised bill from E.on next and calculated what I thought I should be paying and e.mailed them for confirmation. The other issue was I couldn't pay them online as their name on their account isn't simply e.on next as they tell you - but EON NEXT ENERGY LTD. No reply to the email, I managed to pay the amount I thought it should be online once I had worked out the proper account name this morning. Some banks insist that you get the account name correct or they won't action the payment - which is annoying in itself.
I went on e.on next's facebook page and sent them a message to say I'd paid what I thought I owed and they got back to me within a couple of hours. Hopefully it will now be sorted.
To any others who aren't getting the correct response from phone/email try the facebook messaging system instead.

I feel your pain on this. We had used nPower for 15 years, then they were purchased by Eon. I've had all kinds of back and forwards, I was adamant that the new bills were wrong and to make it worse if you have dual fuel they send bills on different days sometimes only covering 10 days use, then another for the rest of the month plus a few days of the next month. The customer service is some of the worst i've known, and as said emails go un answered and call backs don't happen.

It ends up that I'm sure i've overpaid over the winter by 250 quid, i've since moved to Octopus energy who a pleasure and easy to deal with. I've given up trying to go back through the old bills to prove about the wrong charges, I've written it off and added Eon to the 'will never use again list'.

My dad and next door neighbour had the exact same issues as me with the nPower take over.
