They are now wanting to hold coffee mornings and jumble sales to raise money for speed guns for the police.

*gasp*
Police rejected criticism that they should pay for the speed guns, saying it is important for the community to be involved in policing.
I assume the Police wouldn't mind getting involved in paying some of my taxes, then.

Yes I agree the community should be involved in POLICING, not cash raising so the police can do more cash raising....

Some portions of the general public are so gullable, I never thought I'd see people volunteering to buy the very equipment that will be skinning them in a few months time.

What's really sad is that people want to hold coffee mornings and so on to raise cash - to get caught themselves! Bizarre!

Is it worth us clubbing together as a community and specifically going out to catch particular road users.

Ie,
People who drive the mobile vans to the blackspots to catch speeders would be very funny

Try get them a few points and bans.

Sure that it must be possible, video evidence and the laser readouts to prove it.

Surely a concerned member of the public with sufficient evidence can get a conviction against a "criminal"

Bloody right!
